GIS and Spatial Data

This course will focus on spatial data science and its utility for public health. Lessons are designed to be broadly useful to DHHS staff and external partners, though lessons on accessing spatial data and data products will be more useful for individuals with access to the State of Nebraska ArcGIS environment.

Participants will learn about the following topics:
How is spatial data useful for public health?
How are maps made and used?
How can I access spatial data and data products like maps or dashboards?
How does geocoding work?
How do spatial datasets get created?

Nebraska ESSENCE

Nebraska ESSENCE is the online platform to monitor, analyze, and create alerts for surveillance data. These trainings will provide a background on how to use Nebraska ESSENCE and will teach how to navigate the site as well as use the tools/features offered on the platform.

Electronic Case Reporting (ECR) Introduction

The course will focus on providing information about electronic case reporting, how it works and its usage in public health. 

The participants will learn about: what is electronic case reporting, how it is different from traditional case reporting and why it will be useful for them.

JIRA Cloud Information

This course will provide information and instructions for use of the Nebraska JIRA Cloud system.

  • How to Log into JIRA Cloud
  • How to add a JIRA Cloud dashboard

NEDSS Trainings

This course will be for the NEDSS training series. Courses included in this section are an Introduction to NEDSS, Patient Record and Event Searches, Creating a Master Patient Record, Data Entry, and Patient Merge Function Updates and How to Merge.

School Absenteeism Reporting

This course is a training for schools to enroll into the School Absenteeism System and complete the weekly reports. Participants will learn:

REDCap Training for NDHHS Staff

This is a REDCap Training. In Part One, participants will learn how to access a REDCap User Account, create a new project, and access help and other resources.
